SRH Serbia aims to improve people’s quality of life by providing and campaigning for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) through advocacy and services, especially for poor and vulnerable people.

Advocacy

The main aim of advocacy is to shift policy, by transforming and influencing ideas within the public realm. For SRH Serbia the role of advocacy gained substantial momentum from the 2005. Therefore, we believe that advocacy is an important activity for NGOs to be involved with, in order to drive and assist achieving sustainable development.

Capacity building

Capacity building is not just about the capacity of a nonprofit today — it’s about the nonprofit’s ability to deliver its mission effectively now, and in the future. Capacity building is an investment in the effectiveness and future sustainability of a nonprofit.

Raising awareness

Awareness-raising is a process that seeks to inform and educate people about a topic or issue with the intention of influencing their attitudes, behaviours and beliefs towards the achievement of a defined purpose or goal. It can mobilize the power of public opinion in support of an issue and thereby influence the political will of decision makers.

Provision of services

In the context of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness the role of NonGovernmental Organisations (NGOs) in development co-operation needs to be reconsidered. In the course of 90s, the NGO sector experienced a dramatic expansion in most developing countries. Donor agencies, which were urged to refrain from direct project implementation on the ground while being confronted with defunct government institutions, started making use of NGOs in partner countries in order to get services delivered to the people.

Gender transformative approach

Gender transformative approaches (GTA) are programs and interventions that create opportunities for individuals to actively challenge gender norms, promote positions of social and political influence for women in communities, and address power inequities between persons of different genders.

Sex positive approach & Peer education

The term “sex positive” can be interpreted in different ways. For most, it involves having positive attitudes about sex and feeling comfortable with one’s own sexual identity and with the sexual behaviors of others.

Accountability to affected population – AAP

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) is an active commitment by humanitarian actors to use power responsibly by taking account of, giving account to, and being held to account by the people they seek to assist.

MEL Alliances

The Learning Alliances approach was used as a way for generating knowledge and fostering innovation processes. The authors indicated that it can be used to “strengthen capacities, generate and document development outcomes, identify future research needs or areas for collaboration, and inform public and private sector policy decisions.
